Session 0 - decisions - Ambush in Haranshire
Players Attending:
- Bill - Micah - Fighter and Goat Farmer
- Aaron - Abraxa - Priestess of Baba Yaga
- Rachel - Ra-Shon the Ranger
- Rick - Casimir the Thief
During the session, we built characters for 4/6 players, made some choices about the campaign, and then played for about an hour, setting off into Haranshire to deliver a package to Tausta, a Wizard in the town of Thurmaster.
Campaign Choices:
- Party accepted the following optional rules -
- Specific Critical Injury (on a crit (18+ on die, hitting by 5 or more), do 2x damage, then the injured party must save vs death - if they fail, we look at a chart for specific injury that could disable a limb, cause bleeding, etc.
- The Heroic Fray - Players fighting opponents of 1-1 HD or less, or opponents of 10 HD less than their level can double their attacks
- Players settled on a low/default weirdness quotient to begin, with a party of 3 demihumans and 1 human.
- Lines and Veils
- Lines (what will not happen) - Intraparty conflict, Sexual Assault, The Party committing War Crimes (slaughtering prisoners or committing torture), The Party enslaving anyone, Dental Trauma
- Veils (what we'll cut away from) - Details of sexual encounters, Death of Children, Too extreme of gore (as defined by squick factor in the moment)
- Quorum/Running Other characters
- We'll run 2x per month, and our quorum is 3 - that being said, DM will try best to get as many folks to the table as possible
- Players can run eachother's characters, but must treat them like a borrowed car from a beloved friend (IE not expose them to unnecessary danger)
- A Backup player is perfectly fine to run for folks
- Setting: We will be using a setting much like the old Holy Roman Empire, but with Gods pulled from the Slavic Pantheon - DM will provide a listing of gods, their spheres of influence, and other gaming related stuff for them.
Things Learned in Play:
- Priests of Baba Yaga make themselves known through a specific messy hairstyle, specific face-paint (based on circumstance), and carrying a belt pouch with a mortar and pestle - this is well known by most folk
- The City of Red Spear (the Grand Forks to Haranshire's North Dakota), has stone walls, and is typically very busy
- Brigands were waiting for the party, and seemed to focus on trying to capture Abraxa. Abraxa was the party member carrying the package the party was to deliver.
- Torva and Lorna - two brigands the party spared after their encounter, revealed that their boss, Carlanis (who the party slew), didn't reveal much about their goals - simply to follow him and to get paid.
- There is someone who can walk without trace through the woods - a young woman who walks around with a grizzly bear, and was very close during the ambush.
Rewards:
- 54 Gold Pieces
- 1 Long Sword
- 1 Long Bow
- 1 favor from Torva and Lorna, thieves that the party spared, disarmed and gave $ to.
